Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze online student feedback related to accounting education and to identify key problem areas encountered in the educational process through thematic examination. The study was conducted within the framework of a qualitative research design, specifically adopting a phenomenological approach, and utilized thematic content analysis for data interpretation. The dataset consisted of 80 complaint texts published on the platform www.sikayetvar.com between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024, all of which were directly related to accounting education. These texts were selected through purposive sampling. A total of 349 thematic codes were generated based on recurring patterns and meaningful units, which were categorized under six main themes. The most prominent issues identified include pedagogical content inadequacy, technical access problems, lack of interaction with instructors, and distrust in certification processes. Additionally, transparency deficiencies in payment and refund procedures, as well as institutional representation issues, were found to significantly affect user satisfaction. The findings indicate that institutions offering online accounting education should be restructured not only in terms of content but also in administrative, ethical, and communicative dimensions. In this regard, the study offers a student-centered evaluation of accounting education in the context of digital transformation and provides an original contribution to the field.
