Article Evaluation Process
The evaluation process for submitted manuscripts in Heterotopic View consists of two stages: internal and external review. These stages include editorial pre-review and external peer review. Once a manuscript is submitted to the journal, the Editor-in-Chief assesses its compliance with the journal’s aims and scope, as well as its adherence to ethical standards. Manuscripts deemed appropriate are then assigned to relevant field experts from the editorial board for an editorial review, where the purpose, topic, and methodology of the manuscript are evaluated. During this process, the manuscript undergoes a plagiarism check using Turnitin/İntihal.net.
Following this, the external peer review process begins. Reviewers are selected from among academics who hold a doctoral degree in the relevant field. The external reviewers conduct a detailed assessment of the manuscript based on its subject matter, methodology, and findings, providing their recommendations on whether it should be published. If both reviewers provide a positive evaluation, the manuscript is accepted for publication by the Editor-in-Chief. However, if one of the reviewers provides a negative evaluation, the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer for further assessment. For a manuscript to be accepted for publication, it must receive at least two positive reviews.
As a result, each manuscript is reviewed by a total of six experts: four internal reviewers, including the Editor-in-Chief, section editor, and language editors, as well as two external reviewers (peer reviewers).
Accepted manuscripts undergo a final review by the Editor-in-Chief before being sent for Turkish and English language editing. Once they are finalized, they are published.
