The Story Of Dumrul And Azrael in The Context Of Rewrite

Abstract

Intertextuality is to benefit from the texts written before it in one or more ways. Rewriting is one of these methods. In this article, we compared Murathan Mungan's story "Dumrul and Azrael", modeled on the story "Big Duha Son of Deli Dumrul", which is one of the ancient texts of Turkish literature, "Dede Korkut Stories", in terms of subject, theme, style, and plot. In the article, we tried to determine the similarities and different aspects between the two stories by respecting the order of fiction. In addition, Mungan's "The Legend of Harut and Marut" by Russian writer L. Tolstoy, which is based on the author's angel-human relationship, and "The Legend of Harut and Marut", which is mentioned in Eastern literature and the Qur'an, and frequently cited by some poets in divan literature. We found that there are some similarities between the story of the story. The author also made references to these narratives, and by repeating the message intended to be conveyed in these works implicitly in his own story, he created a new, extraordinary, and fantastic work.
